NEW EXHIBITION – ASTRONAUTS
In space, astronauts grow by a few centimetres …
In orbit, they see 16 sunsets a day …
They go round the Earth at a speed of 28,000 km/h! …
STRANGE SPACE, STRANGE LIFE !
In space, nothing works like it does on Earth!
With ASTRONAUTS, the new exhibition at Cité de l’espace, explores the EXTRA-ordinary life of the astronauts on board the International Space Station (ISS), a craft which circles the Earth every one and a half hours, in orbit at 400 km, with 6 astronauts on board.
In weightlessness, everything becomes different, every action of daily life has to be re-invented, re-learned. Space is a special environment which disturbs all our reference-points and the functioning of the body.
The astronauts have many tasks to accomplish on their scientific mission, so they have to adapt quickly to their new surroundings. They also experience moments of rest in this compact and confined space with an unbeatable view of Earth!
The exhibition offers you the chance to familiarise yourself with this completely new life, far from our conventional reference-points. At each stage of this voyage, the astronauts “guide” you in exploring the environment of space and life in a space station.
