Latest news on black holes
“Latest news on black holes” conference
Media Library José-Cabanis – Toulouse
By Jean-Pierre LUMINET, research director for the CNRS, Astrophysics Laboratory of Marseille & Paris Observatory, member of the AAE.
The recent detection of gravitational waves by the LIGO interferometer just proved the direct existence of black holes, which had, up to now, only been astronomically analyzed indirectly. Well-known as one of the World specialists on that subject, Jean-Pierre Luminet will explore the latest discoveries on these fascinating objects and the future projects that will enable us to better track them down. Black holes manifest as a spectacular scale of astrophysical phenomenon. Between relativity and quantum physics, they also play a keyrole in the development of new quantum gravitation theories.
